Drone swarms are a relatively new, but highly lethal fixture in modern warfare and a great concern to the domestic security landscape. Spotter Global, a leading innovator in global security threat identification and tracking solutions, is proud to announce the new GAX500-3D, built on Compact Holographic 3D (CH3D) radar technology that detects and tracks live drone threats of all varieties, as well as ground threats with unprecedented speed, three-dimensional accuracy, and reliability.
The 18Hz GAX500-3D represents a significant step forward in drone detection, tracking, and mitigation. Where previous systems have used Electronically Scanned Arrays (ESA) methods similar to a narrow-beam flashlight ranging back and forth to review large areas, the GAX500-3D uses a volumetric exposure, similar to a wide-area floodlight, that spends 100% time on all targets and collects target location data of 50 targets over the full-volume of space every 56 milliseconds.
This means the GAX500-3D scans the entire sky thirty-two times faster than legacy ESA competitors; while older technologies might update a single tracked target at 10 Hz, they can only scan the full-volume of space to discover new threats once every 1.8 seconds.
"Traditional radars act like a flashlight in a dark forest—if you aren't pointing it at the threat the moment it moves, you miss it. In a drone swarm scenario, you can't afford to blink," said Logan Harris, CEO of Spotter Global. "By using CH3D™ technology to provide 100% volumetric coverage 18 times every second, the GAX500-3D ensures that security managers aren't just reacting to threats, but are maintaining total, uninterrupted 'stare' capability over their most critical assets."
With pinpoint location accuracy and a detection range of 500m on 3 kg drones, the GAX500-3D is built for high-priority and high speed mitigation scenarios. The system's unique CH3D "floodlight" architecture allows it to maintain this impressive 500m range despite using the exceptionally low radiated RF Energy of 3.2 W EIRP. This low transmit power, combined with its low weight and small size, makes it ideal for use in military, special operations, and critical infrastructure defense concerned about low visual and RF signatures.
Crucially for defending against drone swarms, the GAX500-3D is capable of tracking 50 targets simultaneously without dropping coverage. The price of the GAX500-3D is comparable to that of other drone detection systems of similar range, but lower accuracy and greater power draw.
Users will be aided in their high speed mitigation responses not just by the precise, real-time coordinates provided by the GAX500-3D, but by the real-time visualization interface provided by Spotter Global’s industry-leading command and control software NetworkedIO (NIO). Built to display a full situational awareness picture by integrating and filtering data from multiple sensors, NetworkedIO combines Radar AI and Video AI to increase detection and rapid classification accuracy, minimizing false and nuisance alerts, and providing for location-customized alert zones and threat prioritization.
The pioneers of compact radar for mobile military protection and domestic site security, Spotter Global continues its unwavering commitment to innovation in the face of evolving threats. The GAX500-3D is cutting-edge CUAS technology designed to provide reliable, actionable airspace intelligence to soldiers, critical infrastructure, vital government assets, and other high-value, high-risk locations and personnel. Released on the cusp of the worldwide security conference ISC West 2026, the GAX500-3D fills a much needed security gap for private and public entities concerned about drone swarm attacks, as well as those concerned with drone surveillance and drone event disruption.
