VCWIS

(Very-Close-In-Weapons-Systems)

In dynamic threat environtments, a VCIWS (Very-Close-In-Weapons-System) is the last layer of defense between a critical asset and oncoming threats. They are used to protect mobile military teams, encampments, ships, bases, critical infrastructure sites, and other vital locations.

Spotter Global's award-winning 18Hz GAX500-3D radar plays a critical detection-and-tracking role in CUAS VCIWS systems designed to defend against high-speed drone swarm attacks, particularly from radio-silent "dark" drones.

Precise Radar Tracking --> One Shot UAS Threat Elimination

VCIWS systems can't afford to miss.

There's simply not enough time to afford a second shot, especially when VCIWS systems must take out each individual drone in a fast-moving swarm.

Precise targeting comes from early detection and equally precise tracking, for which VICWS system make use of the fastest radar in the world:

The EDDA System

The EDDA system is an AI-powered C-sUAS Point Defense Turret designed to reliably mitigation Group 1 UAS threats for <$10 per drone defeat.

Developed by 9 Mothers Defense, Spotter Global's GAX500-3D add all-weather UAS radar detection to the system's acoustic- and video-based UAS detection. Together, these integrated sensors help to precisely cue and target the EDDA system shotgun to shoot live high-speed UAS threats out of the air.

When threats come in fast – it's the job of VCIWS systems to be faster.

From CIWS to VCIWS: More Mobile Systems to Combat Higher Mobility Threats

Close-In-Weapons systems respond fast to imminent threats, but landmark systems like the Raytheon Phalanx and Rheinmetall Oerlikon Millennium Gun are still many hundreds of pounds and still require large specially-fitted trucks and ships to move and operate from.

New VCIWS systems understand the need for mobility, lightweight design, and flexible deployment. The 9 Mothers Edda system can not only be transported on a commercial-sized truck or UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle), but can be also be unloaded, set up, and used separate from its transportation base.

Light, portable, and inexpensive, VCIWS systems like 9 Mother's EDDA system are the future of CUAS warfare.

As the drone threat spreads, critical infrastructure sites are likely to employ similar systems to ensure drone attacks don't cripple vital public services.
